Dr. Sheri Everts joined Appalachian State University as its eighth leader in July 2014.

Chancellor Everts’ priorities for moving forward as a campus community include:

  • articulating the ways Appalachian defines sustainability;
  • increasing the diversity of our student, faculty and staff populations;
  • improving wellness, health and safety for our campus community;
  • integrating global learning into and beyond our classrooms;
  • supporting faculty and staff;
  • providing innovative and creative opportunities for our students to engage in and showcase their research;
  • emphasizing the significance of the difference we can make in communities here and across the world through civic engagement;
  • securing the necessary resources to energize and sustain these strategic initiatives and support our world-class faculty, staff and students; and
  • maintaining a focus on slow and steady enrollment growth.

Board of Trustees

The Appalachian State University Board of Trustees is a thirteen-member body that promotes the development of the institution within the functions prescribed by the UNC Board of Governors. The board serves as advisor to the Board of Governors on matters pertaining to the University and also serves as advisor to the chancellor concerning the management and development of Appalachian. The powers and duties of the Board of Trustees are primarily defined and delegated by the Board of Governors.

Board of Visitors

Appalachian State University's Board of Trustees has created a 30-member Board of Visitors to advise and assist trustees and Chancellor Sheri Everts on public policy matters that impact the university. The board will also advise and assist with the university's fund raising activities and needs, and help communicate its mission and accomplishments.
