Great Moments

Honoring Dr. King and a gift with enduring impact
Friday, January 19, 2018

What a hand the weather dealt us for the first week of classes! It’s rare we Mountaineers let the weather slow us down, but this past week the snow and cold had a tight grip on the entire state. Today the sun is shining — and so, a heartfelt “Welcome back!”

Tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 20, temps are predicted to rise — a boon for the hundreds of our students, like those pictured above, who will volunteer for the 19th annual MLK Challenge. The actions brought to life by the MLK Challenge have had and will continue to have tremendous social and personal impact.

The Leon Levine Foundation’s gift, announced this week, to the Beaver College of Health Sciences will also have remarkable and long-lasting impact. Our newest facility — The Leon Levine Hall of Health Sciences — will expand our opportunities for education and outreach, and our graduates, over the course of their careers as health professionals, will have immeasurable impact on the lives of others. This investment in our students will elevate the future of health care in our state. For this, we are extremely grateful.
