Debra Covington joins office in the role of Interim Executive Assistant to the Chancellor
Chancellor Sheri N. Everts is pleased to announce that Debra Covington is joining the office in the role of Interim Executive Assistant to the Chancellor. Most recently, Covington served as Director of Marketing and Engagement for the Walker College of Business. Prior to joining the staff at Appalachian, she held several senior leadership roles for more than 15 years with Wachovia Corporation (First Union National Bank, Wachovia Corporation, and Wells Fargo). From 2008-2010, she served in the role of interim chief marketing officer leading the Wachovia Enterprise marketing team managing the Wachovia brand, customer communications and marketing services for Wachovia businesses until all areas of the company were fully integrated with Wells Fargo. From 2006-2008 she served as chief operating officer of Wachovia’s marketing division. In her new role, she will provide assistance to the Chancellor in the development and management of strategic initiatives, both internal and external, that increase knowledge of and support for the mission of Appalachian State University.
