Beyond Spring Break

Service, staying well and enriching our minds
Friday, March 9, 2018

Welcome back! I hope you are refreshed and restored after a well-deserved spring break. Special thanks to those of you who took this time to serve in communities — from the High Country, to Puerto Rico, to Ecuador.

We are only nine weeks from commencement, and the university’s calendar is filled with a rich array of cultural and academic offerings detailed in the events section of Appalachian Today. Exhibits at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, the Sustainability Film Series, the Hughlene Bostian Frank Visiting Writers Series and a myriad of other concerts, lectures and visiting speakers offer enriching, entertaining and intellectually challenging opportunities for learning.

We are fortunate to have so much so close at hand. As schedules allow, I hope to enjoy these events with you.

As your calendars fill and papers and projects come due, please also take advantage of the many health and wellness opportunities the university provides — exercise, training, counseling and healthy, fresh foods.

Our beautiful Appalachian Community affords us many opportunities to flourish! And spring is officially just around the corner — but in Boone, you never know!
